This custom catio in Beaverton, Oregon, began as an open patio and was fully transformed into a safe, enriching outdoor cat enclosure designed for year-round use. By enclosing the existing patio structure, we were able to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living space that blends beautifully with the home while giving the cats secure access to fresh air and stimulation.

The structure was built entirely from cedar lumber and painted to match the existing patio cover, with select accessories finished in white to create a subtle, modern contrast. For safety and durability, we used 2” x 2” heavy-duty galvanized mesh, paired with a pet-resistant screen for added protection and privacy.

Inside, this catio features one of our favorite custom accessory layouts, thoughtfully designed to encourage climbing, jumping, exploring, and resting at multiple levels. The space includes scratching posts, steps, perches, bridges, a hammock, hiding boxes, and multiple bubble-dome features, all built using exterior-grade, weather-resistant materials that are easy to clean and made to withstand the Pacific Northwest climate.

This project is especially meaningful to us because it’s the second catio we’ve built for this family. Their previous home’s catio became a standout feature during the sale, appealing to buyers with pets. We were honored to bring another custom catio to life in their new home, continuing to create functional, beautiful spaces that add value for both pets and homeowners.
