Screened-In Porch for Cats in Sellwood, Oregon
This colorful screened-in porch in Sellwood, Oregon was designed by The Catio Company for two orange brothers, Bud and Una. With plenty of room to climb, stretch, and lounge, this catio also doubles as a family gathering spot, a place where cats and humans can enjoy the outdoors together. Bud and Una now have a safe, enriching environment to explore, while their family gets the joy of relaxing outside with them. Shared catios like this prove that outdoor spaces can be both practical and heartwarming.

This screened-in porch catio in Sellwood, Oregon is one of our most unique projects. Framed in cedar and painted blue with some green trim, the design adds character while still blending beautifully with the home’s exterior.
Like many of our projects, this catio was built with both heavy-duty mesh and pet-resistant screen, providing full privacy from the outside while appearing nearly invisible from the inside.
A digital door lock was installed for easy access, and the spacious layout gives orange brothers Bud and Una plenty of room to climb, nap, and explore all while staying close to their family in a safe, shared outdoor retreat.

Inside, Bud and Una’s catio was transformed into a vibrant playground with our unique handmade accessories, designed and built by The Catio Company.
The catio includes a floor-to-ceiling scratching post with perches, two custom hiding boxes, and a suspended bridge for adventurous play. Step ladders, ramps, and perches provide multiple levels of movement, while colorful touches on the accessories tie the whole design together.
We also added a custom window pet door insert so Bud and Una can move freely between the house and their catio. Every feature was designed around their needs as playful orange brothers, creating a safe, functional, and joyful retreat.

What makes this catio special
Enclosing this porch was especially rewarding, as it allowed us to play with color and texture while maintaining a seamless connection to the home. The combination of green and blue tones, paired with the pet-resistant screen, blends beautifully with the existing structure, making the catio feel like it was always meant to be there.
The generous space gave us the opportunity to create a rich accessory layout with multiple hiding boxes, bridges, and scratching features. Watching the cats confidently explore, play, and truly enjoy the space brought the entire design to life.
