2. Can I change the door placement?
Yes! You can move the door to the back wall or to either side wall.
For the back wall:
Think of it as a mirror image of the front wall.
You’ll keep the same height (the back stays the shorter wall, the front stays the taller wall), but you’ll copy the spacing of the studs from the front wall so the door opening lines up correctly.
The built-in bench that normally sits on the back wall will just move to the front wall instead. For the side walls:
Build the side wall as usual, but simply leave out the horizontal stud where the door will go and add the king and jack studs to frame the door in that spot.
After moving the door, adjust the bench and accessory layout as needed to fit your preferred entry point.
3. Can I adjust the size of the catio?
Yes, the plans are flexible:
To change the length or width, adjust the framing of the front and back walls accordingly.
You may need extra or fewer roof rafters and roofing panels as you change dimensions.
To change the depth, keep in mind that the roof pitch will also change, so the rafters will need to be recalculated.
➡️ Adjusting the depth and roof pitch is a bit more advanced. If you’re not comfortable with these calculations, we recommend sharing the plans with a local carpenter or contractor for help with more complex modifications.
