1. What’s included in the 4×8×8 Lean-To DIY Catio Plans?
These plans include step-by-step instructions, clear diagrams, a full material list, tool checklist, and cut list.
They also feature a basic accessory layout with perches and a roof variation option so you can choose between a pitched, covered roof or an uncovered flat mesh-panel roof.
2. Can the door be relocated?
Yes. The door can be moved to either side wall to suit your space and window location.
This design is meant to sit against your house, so the back wall stays solid against the exterior wall.
To move the door to a side, simply frame that wall as usual but skip the horizontal stud where the door will go and add the proper king and jack studs for the new door opening.
3. Can I adjust the size of the catio?
Yes. You can adjust the length or height of the catio.
If you increase or decrease the depth, you’ll also need to adjust the pitch of the roof and the length/angle of the rafters to maintain proper drainage.
Changing the height or length is generally simpler, but altering the roof pitch requires a bit more advanced carpentry skills, you may want to consult a local contractor if making significant changes.
