This patio-to-catio conversion in Portland, Oregon is one of our most unique and special projects. What makes it stand out are the handcrafted barn doors, custom-designed and built by us at The Catio Company. These doors gave the catio a warm, welcoming aesthetic while adding functionality that both humans and cats enjoy.
Built from cedar and finished in a beautiful natural cedar tone stain, this catio blends durability with style.
The highlight of this project is the two custom barn doors, designed and handcrafted to perfectly fit the space. We also incorporated a clever removable shelf, which transforms into a table with bar stools tucked underneath, creating a versatile spot for the family to relax while spending time with their cats.
A smaller pass-through door was also added to connect this catio to the rest of the patio, making it a true shared space for humans and cats.
Like all of our custom catios, this one is filled with our custom accessories designed around the cats’ personalities and needs.
It includes a bubble dome bed, a cozy hiding box, steps, and a tall scratching post for climbing and exercise. We also built a unique suspension bridge that diagonally connects the front of the catio with the side, giving the cats a fun elevated walkway.
To top it off, we added a cat run wrapping around the patio, creating an extra lookout area for the cats to explore and observe their surroundings safely.
