This custom catio project in Portland, Oregon was designed for a lovely family and their two beautiful Bengal sisters. These girls are full of energy, active, playful, and always ready to chase a toy or climb to new heights. They’re also very treat-motivated and incredibly smart, which makes them both fun and rewarding to design for.
💡 Did you know? Bengal cats are known for their high intelligence and strong hunting instincts. They thrive in stimulating environments where they can climb, explore, and solve little challenges, making a custom catio the perfect way to keep them happy, safe, and enriched.
This catio was built out of durable cedar and finished with 2x2 heavy-duty black PVC-coated mesh for safety and long-lasting strength. Every panel was neatly trimmed to cover mesh edges and staples, creating a polished look. A custom human door was added for easy access, and the catio was painted to blend seamlessly with the home, making it a beautiful shared space for both cats and their humans.
To match the Bengals’ athletic personalities, we included plenty of features to keep them busy and entertained. The catio includes perches, ramps, a step ladder, a floor-to-ceiling scratcher, and a cozy hiding box. Together, these accessories create an enriching playground where the sisters can run, climb, jump, and lounge, supporting their natural curiosity and playful bond.
