Features: This custom catio was built in Port Townsend, Washington is a one-of-a-kind design that combines multiple spaces into a seamless outdoor retreat.
It starts with a window catio, which connects to a larger enclosure through a long elevated cat tunnel. The tunnel features playful ups and downs for extra enrichment, including a raised section that passes over the garden gate, giving humans clear access below while the cats enjoy their aerial walkway.
The large catio also connects to a shed, creating a shared space where the cats can safely relax alongside their humans. This thoughtful multi-zone design gives the cats endless ways to climb, explore, and lounge while staying fully protected outdoors.
Built from durable cedar and finished with a natural cedar stain, this catio combines strength with a natural aesthetic that fits perfectly into the property. The enclosure is secured with 1” x 1” heavy-duty black mesh for unobstructed views and lasting durability. A clear polycarbonate roof provides weather protection while allowing in plenty of natural light.
To maximize play and comfort, this design includes perches, ramps, steps, a floor-to-ceiling scratching post, a bridge, and a bubble-dome bed.
Some of the shelves are finished with pet turf for extra traction and comfort, giving the cats both variety and function in their vertical space.
What Makes This Catio Special:
This build will always hold a special place for us. Traveling to Port Townsend, was such a treat, and working with such a wonderful client made the experience even better. She had fantastic ideas, and through close collaboration we created a unique design that truly feels like a cat sanctuary. Her cats, all rescues from Mexico, were beautiful, friendly, and each had such distinct personalities. We loved their names and loved watching them explore their new space.
This project was also part of a paired build, we completed two catios in Port Townsend, which made it an even more memorable trip. Friendly people, a thoughtful design, and a setup that connects multiple areas into one cohesive retreat, it’s everything we love about building custom catios.
